3 Mostly Used Air Filters for HVAC Systems

Are you thinking of buying a good quality air filter for your HVAC system, but not sure which one to buy? Given the demands and requirements of customers, there are now different types of air filters. Some of them are disposable and cheap, while some are washable but a bit expensive. But your system needs an air purifier that can absorb most of the airborne particles, smoke and bacteria. So here you will find three commonly used air filters that are different from one another.

Fiberglass Air Filters

Fiberglass Air Filters:

If you want to know about the most commonly used air filter in HVAC system, it’s fiberglass filter. Made of strands of fiberglass intertwined, this sort of air filter captures big sized airborne particles like dust. These filters are generally used in air conditioners and furnace units. These are best for one-time and quite cheap. However, these are not very much effective as these filters do not have high-tech air-purifying features.

Pleated Air Filters

Pleated Air Filters:

Pleated filters are a grade up from fiberglass HVAC filters Roseau. They are good at trapping airborne particles, dust and allergens such as dust mites, pet dander and mold spores. These are available in both disposable and washable options for HVAC systems.

In contrast with fiberglass filters, these are tighter. Pleated filters are curated to make the surface area of filters bigger and hence optimize their functionality. Also they provide low airflow resistance and are good at suppressing fan noise.

HEPA Air Filters

HEPA Air Filters:

These are the most recommended air filters amongst all. Many companies that sell air filters for HVAC systems refer these filters for a good protection from airborne particles. These work great at trapping small microns as well as bacteria and even tobacco smoke. But when it comes to installation, it becomes quite tricky. This sort of air filter needs modifications from a contractor with your HVAC system.
